SESSION 1

 Join Mary Bigler as she shares the joy and wonder of reading aloud to young children by introducing books that will tickle their funny bones, light up their eyes, or touch their hearts.  She will share ideas on how you can engage children with good books and create a love of reading.  You will laugh, learn and be glad you came!

 Reading and Writing                                  PRESENTER: Peggy Campbell-Rush                                          SESSION #: 12

 Join Peggy to learn new ideas to make reading and writing work together.  Enhance your sight word list, utilize your word wall and enrich your current reading series.  You’ll pick up many tricks to make reading and writing easier to teach.

Building Literacy in Your Classroom    PRESENTER: Cindy Middendorf                                               SESSION #: 13

Cindy will help you develop “Building Blocks” instruction with your students.  You’ll learn how to integrate the balanced literacy approach using developmentally-appropriate strategies.

Marvelous Math                                    PRESENTER: Shari Sloane                                                        SESSION #: 14

 Join Shari as she shares how to incorporate math into all areas of the school day.  Patterning, graphing, and problem solving will be explored in a “marvelous” way.  You’ll gather ideas for math games and math centers.  Your children will learn marvelous, hand-clapping math music.  Y’all will have a marvelous time.

 Peggy will pass along her tricks and techniques for managing a smooth-running classroom.  You’ll learn how to reduce those annoying interruptions and build a close-knit classroom.  Discover how to save time, stay organized and apply many of her transitional tips.

 Coping for the First Thirty Days            PRESENTER: Cindy Middendorf                                            SESSION #: 23

 Cindy will help you get through those rough, first thirty days using brain-based discipline and management skills.  You’ll learn how to help your students control those kindergarten impulses and how to handle their frustrations.

 Shari shows you how to use modeled, guided, interactive and independent writing activities.  She’ll share writing techniques that have been helpful in her own classroom.  You’ll return to your classroom with loads of wonderful writing ideas.

 Songs, chants, books and cd’s that will bring language and laughter to young children will be featured in this entertaining workshop.  Ideas for improving children’s listening and speaking skills will be shared.  Come prepared to chant, choral read, sing, and have fun!

 Discover ways to adapt your instruction for children who learn at different rates.  Peggy’s teacher-tested strategies help children make progress.  Peggy will offer techniques that target your students’ needs – from visual discrimination, auditory processing to hyperactivity and shyness.
